Retrobridge: First Bridge Before Its 2025 Closure
RetroBridge moved assets between blockchains before the Retro Team announced its closure on November 28, 2025. Getting started depended on a compatible transfer, an accurate destination address and sufficient funds.
- Validation Before Commitment
- The November 21, 2023 introduction placed address, funding and protocol compatibility checks before source-side fund locking.
- Receiving-Side Evidence
- The documented process included a destination-chain transaction and monitoring for confirmations.
- Historical Operation Choices
- Asset bridging and, from the July 1, 2024 launch, USDC-to-USDT swaps and the reverse across 25 EVM-compatible chains.
Route and Token Compatibility
The 2023 introduction named Ethereum, Polygon, BSC, Avalanche, Optimism, Arbitrum and zkSync Era among supported networks. A first-transfer choice involved both the sending and receiving chains and the asset to receive. A general chain list alone didn’t confirm a particular token-and-network combination.
The 25-chain stablecoin launch didn’t establish swap availability on every network that the broader bridge later supported.
Validation Before Source-Side Commitment
RetroBridge’s November 21, 2023 introduction described its service checking transaction details before starting the cross-chain handoff. After validation, the process locked funds on the source blockchain and prepared the receiving chain.
A reader could check the route, address and funds, then stop before initiating a transfer if anything remained unresolved. RetroBridge’s own validation began upon initiation. The introduction doesn’t establish a cancellation or reversal procedure once that source-side lock occurred.
Destination Evidence and Timing
The service then signed a transaction, sent it to the destination blockchain and monitored confirmations. A source-side lock or a signature alone didn’t establish confirmation of the destination transaction.
The same introduction advertised one-minute bridging, but it didn’t give a per-transfer completion guarantee.
Website Availability After Closure
The Retro Team’s November 28, 2025 closure announcement said its website and social account would remain active for future updates. Keeping those channels online wasn’t an announcement that bridging would continue.
